What do the numbers mean on Five Year Housing Land Supply?

Explanation of what the numbers mean on Five Year Housing Land Supply.

The Five Year Housing Land Supply Figure is an officially released average figure by the council on whether the council could meet the housing Delivery : Requirement ratio for the next five years.

The Five Year Housing Land Supply Appeal Figure is derived when a developer appeals in court saying that the councils cannot meet the official figure/needs refinement and it needs to be changed in order to get there planning application approved. If the case officer finds the LPA cannot meet the official figure, the case officer will update the figure (appeal figure 4.8) which should be followed then onwards.
