Viewing Ownership and SHLAA together

A short guide to how to better understand land ownership and SHLAA site submissions.

About this Tutorial

Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) sites have been collected b SearchLand has collected directly from local authority websites. This tutorial is about how you can view the ownership records that relate to each SHLAA site using our ownership boundaries layer.

Setup

The first step is to toggle on the ownership boundaries layer at the top of the screen. This will load in the land registry freeholder dataset.

Next head to the control centre, and under the ‘strategic land’ section you’ll see the SHLAA layer. Click this and you’re nearly there.

Next, you’ll want to make sure the layers are organised in such a way that you can move between the ownership dataset and the SHLAA layer. You can do this by swapping the order of the layers under the ‘reorder layers’ button in the top right.

Saving your place

If you like this combination of layers and setup, it’s a good idea to click ‘save workspace’ for quick access later on.

You can find this under the control centre > workspaces and then the name of your relevant space.
