In this Snippet: Typically, when we add 2 or more filters together in a filter, we use an AND style of search. For instance, the decision is approved AND No. Dwellings are over 10.
However, sometimes we want to use a range of parameters that can be used interchangeably. This is where OR searches come in. For Instance, the proposal contains 'demolition' OR 'deconstruction'.
This Snippet will introduce you to AND/OR searches, how to get started, some great examples and common mistakes.

Defining requirements
Add filter > Proposal > contains > "HMO"
Review the list of results and observe differences in terminology i.e. "house in multiple occupation".
Here we have found that "house in multiple occupation" can be used interchangeably with HMO and therefore is a phase we should also be searching for.
Improve your search to maximise relevant results: Add filter > Proposal > Contains > "Multiple Occupation".
The results will likely go down as only applications that show "HMO" AND "Multiple Occupation" are being shown.
Utilising AND and OR Searches
Click on the AND button to change to OR - results will increase.
Adding Filter Groups
Create filter groups for more advanced searches.
To view only approved applications: Add filter group > Decision > is One of > Approved
Add further filters if needed.
Refining your search
Review first 10 - 20 results and edit filters if necessary.
Tip: Don't forget to save your search for future use if you're happy with the edits!
